Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Home Health and Hospice Cash Poster. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately posting payments and adjustments related to home health and hospice services into our system. You will work closely with the billing and finance teams to ensure proper reconciliation of accounts and accurate reporting of revenue. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong knowledge of medical billing, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Accurately post payments, adjustments, and denials from insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay patients to the appropriate accounts.
  • Verify payment amounts and ensure correct allocation of funds according to billing guidelines and patient accounts.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts with system records and follow up on discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all posted transactions and adjustments.
  • Communicate with the billing team to resolve any issues with posted payments or outstanding balances.
  • Assist with research and resolution of denied claims and payment discrepancies, working closely with payers and insurance representatives.
  • Monitor and update patient accounts for correct payment allocation and proper adjustments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of all payments to support cash flow and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to prepare reports and ensure compliance with revenue cycle procedures.
  • Stay updated on industry changes and insurance regulations impacting home health and hospice billing. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management, specifically in home health and hospice environments.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing practices and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10 codes, and billing codes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in posting payments and handling accounts.
  • Proficient in using Home Care Homebase and billing software (Inovalon).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience with Home Health and Hospice-specific billing systems and coding.
  • Familiarity with claims processing and follow-up procedures.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to analyze financial reports and provide actionable insights.
